Welcome Wagon
since 1984

Join the excitement and become a vital part of Altus, Oklahoma's official welcome wagon, the Committee of 100! For over 40 incredible years, we've been proudly serving the airmen of Altus Air Force Base, making a lasting impact on our community and those who call it home.
Our history is rich with civic leaders like Linda Copeland, John Gover, Dick Moore, Herschal Crow, Holley Urbanski, Aaron Burleson, and Don Johnson, who initiated this fantastic project in 1984. We're rooted in bringing together 100 dedicated chamber members, pooling resources, and hosting four annual functions that welcome newcomers, students, and returning heroes and their families.
With your support, we continue to extend our warm Southwest Oklahoma hospitality, providing not just receptions and dinners, but also delightful entertainment that showcases the heart of our community.

In 2024, the Committee of 100 celebrates its 40th anniversary.

We aim to host 2-3 events a year to help welcome newcomers to Altus Oklahoma.

Our mission is clear: we're here to greet newcomers and ensure they feel welcomed, valued, and a part of our community. Our program has gained recognition within Altus and throughout the entire Air Force. The Chief of Staff of the Air Force and former Secretary of the Air Force have praised our Committee of 100 program, emphasizing its significance to our troops.

Here's how you can be a part of this:

  • Volunteer: Your time and energy can make this night unforgettable. We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run game booths, supervise activities, and bring smiles to faces.
  • Donate: Although the $100 Committee of 100 fees have remained the same over the past 40 years, the value of a dollar has yet to stretch as far as it used to. Additional sponsorships are NEEDED to continue providing these events to our community.
  • Sponsor: If you don't have the workforce to help but can sponsor snacks, food, or beverages, please contact the Altus Chamber at [email protected] or 580-482-0210, and we will ensure you get the recognition you deserve.

Your involvement is crucial for the success of Altus's official welcome wagon and for fostering a stronger, more connected Altus.

This is a FREE event for newcomers to Altus, Oklahoma! Whether you're newly stationed at Altus AFB, newer base personnel, or new to our community, this event is for you and your family.
