Leadership Altus VII

We recognize the importance of developing a pool of informed and motivated men and women qualified to assume present and future leadership roles in our community.  If you would like to become more active and involved in our great community, this is a great learning opportunity.  The purpose of our program is to identify emerging leaders and expose them to the major issues and opportunities facing our area.  This is accomplished by a series of seven seminars held monthly which run from 5:30 pm until 9:15 p.m.   Dinner will be served at each of the monthly sessions.  There will be an Orientation in August, with the first of seven sessions beginning in September.  Graduation will take place in April.

If you have questions,  please contact our chamber staff at 482-0210.

If you wish to apply, please complete the enclosed application and submit a check for tuition with the completed form.  Deadline for filing applications is Friday, August 5, 2022.   Leadership Altus VII will be a class of 40 selected participants from applications received.  Those selected will be notified by August 12, 2022.

As an alumni of this program, let me strongly urge you to participate.

Sincerely,

Charles Dobbs

Expectations of Leadership Altus

Some years ago the chamber board and other leaders in the community developed a vision for the future:

Vision

Altus is a progressive, clean, friendly city which is recognized as the commercial, cultural, health and services center of Southwestern Oklahoma.  It is characterized by its leadership which is united in its efforts to develop an attitude toward growth, an infrastructure system which supports expansion, top quality education institutions and an overall quality of life which is recognized as second to none.

We started Leadership Altus with  a mission to  create a dynamic group of leaders who will shape the growth of Southwest Oklahoma and meet the vision of our community.  This remains true today.

The first Leadership Altus program was held from 1978 – 79.  Our program was the third one in the state of Oklahoma right behind Oklahoma City and Tulsa.  Today there are over 68 community leadership programs across our state, and more are coming on line every year.

You ask why…

Leadership is essential to growth and stability in our communities.

Leadership used to mean knowing all the right answers, today it’s knowing how to ask all the right questions.   To do this you must have good data and know where to go to get it.

Today’s leaders are strategic thinkers and doers.   It takes skills, knowledge, and the right attitude to make successful community leaders.

You can expect to be exposed to all of this in the Leadership Altus program.

You are the most important part of this process.  Your attendance is crucial because if you miss even one session, it cannot be made up.  The chamber staff will remind you of the sessions, we always ask for a response (RSVP) please remember that it saves you and my staff time if you will respond to your notice as soon as you get it.  Besides, it’s the right thing to do!  Just like wearing your name badge on the right side so people can read it when you shake hands.

Thanks

Rodger
