Join the excitement and become a vital part of Altus, Oklahoma's official welcome wagon, the Committee of 100! For over 40 incredible years, we've been proudly serving the airmen of Altus Air Force Base, making a lasting impact on our community and those who call it home.
Our history is rich with civic leaders like Linda Copeland, John Gover, Dick Moore, Herschal Crow, Holley Urbanski, Aaron Burleson, and Don Johnson, who initiated this fantastic project in 1984. We're rooted in bringing together 100 dedicated chamber members, pooling resources, and hosting four annual functions that welcome newcomers, students, and returning heroes and their families.
With your support, we continue to extend our warm Southwest Oklahoma hospitality, providing not just receptions and dinners, but also delightful entertainment that showcases the heart of our community.
Later this year you can look forward to
Family events, "Taste of Altus", and an educational program about rattlesnakes in SW Oklahoma, all leading up to the Mangum Rattlesnake Derby event.
Our mission is clear: we're here to greet newcomers and ensure they feel welcomed, valued, and a part of our community. Our program has gained recognition not only within Altus but throughout the entire Air Force. The Chief of Staff of the Air Force and former Secretary of the Air Force have praised our Committee of 100 program, emphasizing its significance to our troops.
